The Martin D-41 was first launched in 1969 and covered the range between the D-28 and the “All In” top model D-45. In addition to the typical wood selection of spruce / Indian rosewood, a D-41 can be recognized by the abundant inlays of great abalone worked into the fingerboard, Headstock, around the soundhole and once completely around the entire Top of the guitar.
This makes the D-41 not only unmistakable, but also a real feast for the eyes.
In terms of sound, the D-41 can be described as a typical rosewood dreadnought from Martin, similar to the D-28: Powerful, plenty of mids and basses and yet clear and defined.
This example was built in 1975 and has the serial number 364563. The guitar is in very good condition and, in addition to a complete check and a professional setup with string change, the frets have been fully dressed once. It is therefore wonderfully adjusted and is “Ready to Play!” with a very comfortable string action and perfect neck angle.
The original case is no longer present, but a slightly used black dreadnought hard case is included.
The original pickguard, which was presumably black at the time, was probably replaced at some point with the tortoise-look pickguard that is now installed.
The guitar has been played and was built in 1975, so there are slight traces of use, small scratches and the typical “cracks” in the nitro lacquer.
D-41 Martins are not often seen and this is a really great example in very good condition and with a great Martin vintage sound!
