In the world of classical guitars and Spanish guitars, the name Felipe Conde from Madrid stands for decades of family tradition in guitar making. The short version of a dynasty of guitar making:

1887-1937: Domingo Esteso is trained by the legend Manuel Ramirez and creates his first masterpieces. Faustino Conde begins his apprenticeship under Esteso in 1926. Mariano Conde also begins his apprenticeship here in 1928. Esteso dies in 1937 and the Conde brothers continue to run the business.

1940-1960: Domingo Esteso’s nephew introduces small modernizations to further improve the construction of the already masterful instruments. The now famous “Media Luna” headstock is invented.

1960-1989: The Conde brothers change the name of the manufactory to “Hermanos Conde – Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso”. Legendary instruments are built for famous guitarists such as Paco de Lucia, Mario Escudero, Al di Meola and many others.

This knowledge of traditional Spanish guitar making, handed down over generations, is still honored today at Felipe Conde and applied to the construction of magnificent instruments.
