The Pono Ukuleles manufactory has existed on the island of Hawaii for more than 40 years. In the beginning, individual instruments were built, but the company specialized primarily in repairing stringed instruments of all kinds.

Later, after about 20 years, the decision was finally made to concentrate primarily on the manufacture of high-quality stringed instruments and ukuleles in particular. Thus Ko’olau Guitars and “Ukuleles was born. Ko’olau Guitars and” Ukuleles instruments are still available today, but today they are only made as custom store instruments in Hawaii and are accordingly rare, difficult to obtain and expensive.

In order to be able to continue offering high-quality, handmade instruments at a more attractive price, it was therefore decided to launch another product line, which is now manufactured on the island of Java in Indonesia. This is how the Pono Ukuleles brand came into being.

Today, Pono instruments are handcrafted using the best materials and solid woods, and only high-quality components such as machine heads and bone saddles are used.

The result is great instruments with a wonderful sound and great workmanship.
