Not just a dreadnought – a time capsule. The “Sinker Singer” is a rare Martin Custom Shop D-18, made from centuries-old Sinker mahogany from Belize and a high-quality Adirondack spruce top, which was specially made for Martin’s German distributor in 2020. With powerful projection and singing sustain, the sound of this guitar is truly exceptional!
The back and sides are made from “sinker mahogany”, a wood that was felled over 300 years ago, floated downriver for export and eventually forgotten – submerged in river beds and preserved under layers of mud and silt for up to 150 years. This rediscovered wood offers exceptional density, depth of sound and response and is legendary among guitar makers.
Together with the finely grained Adirondack spruce top and the forward shifted scalloped bracing in the style of 1937, the sound palette is rich, broad and dynamic. It has the typical D-18 sound, but with extra warmth, brilliance and the unique sinker flair. Whether flatpicking, strumming or fingerstyle – it delivers the best results.
This guitar is in excellent condition, has been professionally set up and comes with the original Martin hardshell case and custom store documents.
