Until recently, this “José Lopez Bellido” was a completely normal 6-string guitar. And it has been for many years!
However, its owner wanted to add a 7th lower string. To avoid having to build a completely new neck, we removed the old fingerboard. The next step was to make a new, slightly wider fingerboard. The special feature of the fingerboard is its slanted frets. This results in a scale length of 67 cm for the low strings and 66 cm for the high strings. As a result, the 7th string has more tension and therefore sounds much more dynamic and full. A principle that already existed centuries ago. You get used to the “slant” surprisingly quickly when playing!
